What It’s Really Like to Work With a Design-Led Florist
Founder and Creative Director of Wild Floweress Design Co., Amy Hunterton
If you’re newly engaged and starting to reach out to florists, chances are you’re feeling a mix of excitement and overwhelm.
You might be thinking:
I don’t really know flowers.
I have ideas, but I can’t quite picture how they’ll translate into real life.
I have no idea how much florals should cost.
I want this to feel worth the investment and not look like every other wedding I’ve seen.
If any of that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. In fact, this is exactly where most of our couples begin.
You Don’t Need to Have It All Figured Out
One of the biggest misconceptions about working with a floral designer is that you need to come in with a fully formed vision. The truth is, most couples don’t. Some have a Pinterest board with hundreds of images, others have just a color they’re drawn to or a general feeling they want their wedding day to have.
Our role is to take whatever you bring to the table and translate it into a cohesive design that works with your venue, your priorities, and your budget.
We ask thoughtful questions, talk through inspiration together, and offer guidance based on experience. Design is collaborative and it unfolds over time. It’s not something that needs to be solved in one conversation.
Our mood boards are involved and show you an example of what everything will look like for your big day.
Transparency Matters on Both Sides
We believe the strongest designs come from honest, transparent conversations. That’s why we encourage our clients to be open about budget early on. Not so we can upsell, but so we can guide you in the right direction from the start.
Our proposals are itemized and clear, making it easy to see where your investment is going and how each element contributes to the overall design. We help you prioritize what matters most, suggest where to invest for the biggest impact, and offer thoughtful alternatives when needed.
Because we also own a luxury micro flower farm and work closely with trusted local growers, we have access to beautiful seasonal ingredients that allow us to create elevated designs while being mindful of value.

Design Is an Organic Process
One of the things our couples often tell us is how relieved they feel knowing they are not tied to their initial proposal.
Design evolves. Ideas change. Inspiration grows as the wedding day approaches. That’s not only okay, it’s expected.
We revise proposals, refine mood boards, and adjust designs as often as needed to ensure the final result feels completely right. Many of our reviews speak directly to how receptive we are to change and how supported couples feel throughout the process.
For our full-service clients, we also offer mockups and final design meetings, either in our studio or via Zoom. These moments often bring everything together, helping couples visualize the design clearly and feel confident moving forward.

Our goal is never to simply “sell florals.” We see ourselves as design partners. We’re here to guide, problem-solve, and take the stress out of the design process so you can enjoy it.
When couples leave our consultations, we want them to feel confident that they’re working with a knowledgeable professional who understands creativity, design, and how to bring a vision to life in a way that feels intentional and personal.
If you’re planning a wedding and looking for a floral team that values collaboration, transparency, and thoughtful design, we would love to hear from you.
Tell us about your venue.
